About
The Greater Subic Bay Tourism Bureau
THINK of Subic and expensive yacht
clubs, luxury resorts and lavish villas come to
mind. Yet there's more to Subic than just being
the ideal venue for the lifestyles of the rich
and famous.
Back in 2004, A few local businessmen have thought
beyond the former naval base and have banded with
other tourism organizations of the surrounding
areas. Their goal is to market the various attractions
of Subic Bay Freeport, Olongapo City, and the
provinces of Bataan and Zambales as one prime
destination. Placed in alphabetical order
we refer to the area as BOSZ (Bataan, Olongapo,
Subic Bay Freeport, and Zambales)
The businessmen are primarily composed of hoteliers,
resort owners and theme park operators from the
four areas, dubbed the Greater Subic Area. The
campaign has been christened "Subik."
The organization, called the Greater Subic Bay
Tourism Bureau (GSBTB), was formed to maximize
the tourism potential of the four areas. Its first
major venture was the Subik Travel Exchange Convention
held in January 2006 and the Subik! Subik!
Festival event in 2007.
"These two events represent the first salvo
in our efforts to promote SUBIK as a sustainable,
ecologically sound tourism and vacation haven,"
said GSBTB chair George Lorenzana during the launch
of the GSBTB in Subic Bay Freeport back then.
Lorenzana, who owns the White Rock Resort in the
town of Subic and the Mountain Woods Resort Hotel
in Subic Bay Freeport, said he, along with the
area's tourism organizations and major tourism
stakeholders have recognized by working together,
the tourism potential in the area "could
be maximized, given the synergies and the critical
mass."
"We have searched for common ground that
will benefit the industry and consequently, our
businesses and our community," he explained.
Now the GSBTB has grown to 100+ members, and is
recognized as one of the countries leading tourism
organizations, Among its attributes is that it
is the official visitors and convention bureau
as recognized by the Northern Philippines Visitors
and Convention Bureau. The Subik Subik just had
its third yearly event. As we enter into 2009
the GSBTB is entering new expansion. We are extending
our activities and our marketing efforts.
The Greater Subic Bay Tourism Bureau is proud
to announce another new tool in the promotion
of the Greater Subic Bay area. The bureau has
decided to select PRLog as its online press release
partner. The Bureau's marketing director Charles
Davis Said "The Bureau has decided to aggressively
improve its online presence and marketing efforts.
On line press releases will be used to supplement
our traditional releases to Media. The online
releases will also be used to support our membership.
The bureau has about 100 members from what we
call the BOSZ. The BOSZ is Bataan, Olongapo, Subic
Bay Freeport and Zambales, the four areas that
make up what is called the Greater Subic Bay.
The membership is a mix of government units and
private sector companies in the tourism industry".
The new online press
release center and its new
blog and website are all part
of a new plan to promote the area. The new Subic
Clark Tarlac expressway (SCTex) makes the Subic
Bay area much easier to get to, now only a hour
and half from Manila and only 45 minutes to the
DMIA international airport at the Clark Freeport
Zone. Coming to Subic Bay just got much easier
whether you are coming from Manila, Cebu, Singapore
or Hong Kong.
Tourism
is still growing and the GSBTB is here to help
it stay that way
